Hey Classy Lady!

Hey everyone!  I’m so excited to meet everyone and to be writing my first blog post for the B&G Designs blog!  So this post is all about Classy Ladies like you and me!  You always know a classy girl when you see her, clad in pearls and a bow in her hair.  But aside from that, what does it really mean to be a Classy Lady?

ATTITUDE
A classy lady must have the proper attitude.  An optimistic outlook on life is always the way to go.  Always kind and eager to help others, she is the apple of everyone’s eye.  A classy lady does not speak badly of others, and sees the best in everyone.

STYLE
A classy lady dresses conservatively and with a feminine flair.  She often dons her pearls and even a bow in her hair.  Her wardrobe is full of color with classic silhouettes.  She always looks fabulous, even when she’s having a lazy day!

GRACE
A classy lady has impeccable manners.  She always knows what is appropriate, and what is not.  She carries herself with poise and is as graceful as she can be. (Because we all know we have those not so graceful days).  She is cultured and up to date with the happenings of the world.  She is well rounded.

Overall, a classy lady her best self! What qualities do you think resemble a Classy Lady? What makes you classy? And what are your favorite Classy Lady quotes? We want to know! Comment below!!
I hope you enjoyed my first post! I can’t wait to write more for you all! If you liked it, I hope you’ll check out my personal blog, Sequin Gowns & Mermaid Crowns!  Hope to hear from you all!

St. Patricks Day!

March 17 is St. Patrick's Day! It's quickly approaching. Many of you may be thinking, "okay, cool?" YES! St. Patrick's Day is cool! Every holiday is cool! It gives us a reason (as if we need one) to dress up, throw a fun get together, and have a great time! So, here is a quick overview of St. Patrick's Day in case you need one. It started in Ireland, as a religious holiday. But, countries all over the world have adapted it and made it into its own unique thing. In America, it is usually symbolized by the color green, pots of gold, 4 leaf clovers, and leprechauns. But, it also means that tons of people will be having fun events to celebrate. I know that sometimes it hard to figure out what to wear to these events. But, sometimes the fun of these events isn't what you wear but your hair and makeup.

It's traditional to wear green, some people pinch you if you don't wear green. So green is definitely a way to go, but hair and makeup always complete the look!
For hair, simple is definitely the way to go. Nobody wants to spend hours on their hair, just to worry about it the whole party. That stops you from having fun. Plus, with the weather getting nicer (in most places) you might be outside a lot. Leaving your hair down and natural is always a go to fast method. Adding a quick B&G bow adds a focal point without being too over the top. The Green Goodness Bow is super cute, isn't too over the top, and has a bit of other colors in it to help match whatever you decide to wear. Using the same bow, you could put your hair in a quick ponytail and add the bow to cover the no crease B&G elastic.
Green Goodness

With people paying so much attention to your hair, you want to make sure that your makeup looks good too. Here are a few quick tips to follow.
If you are planning on doing face painting (usually available at these events), then don't wear too much foundation. It will smear and mess up the painting, and if they remove the foundation from one spot for the design, you might become 2 different colors.
Don't add to much glitter. Don't get me wrong, glitter is fun! But if you have glittery bronzer, glittery eyeshadow, glittery lipgloss, and anything else with glitter it can be a bit too much.
Don't be afraid to have fun! You may not normally wear green eye shadow, but it's completely acceptable on St. Patrick's Day. Green lipstick could also be an option. I've even seen green fake eyelashes! But, have fun!

No matter what you do to celebrate, or what you wear, be sure to have fun! Everybody will remember how much fun you had, no necessarily what makeup you had on.

Enjoy!

All about the hair!

Curly hair, straight hair, long, short, or colored. Everybody has their own hairstyle and sometimes getting the perfect style can really take a tole on your hair. All the products that we put in our hair build up, and all the things we use to curl and straighten our hair damage it. How can you rock the perfect bow, if your hair looks like a hot mess?? Hair is a very important thing that we should take care of. Here are some do it yourself hair treatments to pamper your hair and give you a fresh start! I can guarantee your hair will thank you.

These treatments are designed with mid back length hair in mind. Quantities may need adjusted depending on length.
Treatment 1
To repair damage: mix 1 egg and a tablespoon or so of olive oil together in a bowl. Apply to all of your hair and let sit for 10 minutes or so. Rinse out with lukewarm water.

Treatment 2
Split ends: mix 1 egg yolk, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a bowl. Heat it up for about 30 seconds. Massage it into dry hair, focusing on the ends. Comb through with a wide tooth comb. Leave it sit for 30-45 minutes, then wash hair as you normally would.

Treatment 3
Brittle and dry hair: 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of honey, and 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise all mixed in a bowl. Apply to damp hair, working in sections to make sure every part of your hair gets some of the treatment. Leave in for 30 minutes minimum, 3 hours maximum. Wash your hair normally to rinse it out.

I hope that some of these treatments help repair your hair and get it bow wearing ready! I know the cold weather sometimes takes a huge toll on hair and nobody wants to go into spring self conscious because of their hair!

Enjoy!

Spring Break

With Spring Break coming up just around the corner, I know that many of you are finishing up midterms and beginning to pack for the awesome trip you're going on!! Trips can be tons of fun, but also kind of overwhelming. Rushing to make sure you have everything ready can cause you to forget some of the essentials. Let me help remind you of not only some really great clothes pieces you should always bring, but also some extra things you don't want to forget! I will start with some clothing pieces that you should always bring with you on vacation. I'm assuming most people go warm places for Spring Break, but if you are going someplace cold (like to go skiing) then these ideas probably aren't going to be very helpful. Sorry!
When going on vacation, you don't usually want to bring every single thing in your closet. However, you do want to be ready for anything!!! You may not plan on meeting a cute boy, but it could happen. You need to be prepared to go on a date, to the beach, shopping, and tons of other fun stuff!
1. Bathing suits. Bathing suits are a must if you are going to be near water! You can tan in them, go swimming, and even just have them under your outfit in case you decide to be spontaneous. Bring a bathing suit that you feel confident in, people sense confidence. A one piece, bikini, bright colored, patterned, or whatever bathing suit that makes you feel good about yourself.
2. Shorts. Shorts are another essential if you are going someplace warm. But, don't just bring the plain one colored denim. Have fun with it!! Colored shorts, and shorts with patterns are really cute! Plus, shorts can be dressed up or down. You can wear them to shopping with a pair of flip flops and a causal t-shirt, or you can add a super cute blouse and a pair of wedges and have a more dressy date night outfit!
3. Shirts. Simple t-shirts are my personal favorite. A really lightweight material, v neck t-shirt. You can throw it on over a bathing suit top, or you can pair it with a pair of patterned shorts. The lightweight material helps it not stick to your body when you a bit hot and sweaty, and it looks really casual. A plain t-shirt is always great for any occasion. Don't forget a statement necklace to pair with it! It really makes the necklace stand out.
4. Sun Dress! Who always wants to wear shorts and t-shirts? Sometimes, it is way easier and more comfortable to put on a dress! Sun dresses are super cute, can be dressed up or down, and are really quick and easy. Again, pick a dress that you are comfortable in. A maxi dress, strapless, printed, solid colored, whatever you want. A dress is always a must when you are going on spring break.
5. Cute jeans. You may only need to bring 1 pair of these, but nights still sometimes get cold even on Spring Break. Jeans that you feel fabulous in are a great item to have in your suit case! A long walk on the beach in the evening, a quick lunch on the dock, or a spontaneous trip to the shops. A cute, but comfortable pair of jeans are always easy to throw on without much thought.

Now, lets not forget the accessories!!!
Hair bows are a must! B&G has tons of different bows that you could pair with any outfit that you decided to wear! Remember, sometimes, the accessories make the outfit.
Statement necklace. You probably only need one of these. But a statement necklace is a great way to dress up a simple outfit and make a causal outfit ready for a date.
Hair ties. Nobody likes having their hair in their face. Especially when your hot and its sticking to your neck. B&G has some great no crease hair elastics that not only look cute in your hair, but on your wrist too. Never be left without a hair tie!
Sunglasses. Protecting your eyes from the sun is a must!! Health is something to think about even on Spring Break. Thankfully, sunglasses are super cute! They come in tons of colors, designs, styles, and some even have gems on them. You may want to bring more than one pair. For some reason, sunglasses always seem to get lost when you need them most.
A hat. Some girls like ball caps, other girls like the big floppy hats. Either way, keeping the sun off your face is a must! Nobody wants their face to look like a lobster, but more than that, skin cancer is a scary thing to think of. Throw on a cute hat that matches with your outfit, and protect yourself from the suns rays.

Extra things that you should remember. Flip flops, toothbrush, extra money, SUNSCREEN, towels, lip balm, a beach tote, and of course, a smile!

No matter where you end up this Spring Break, remember to have tons of fun!! But, stay safe as well.

Love Always,

Love Yourself

Self confidence is very important! Being a female, it isn't always easy to keep your self confidence high. In the media, we always see expectations that we are supposed to live up too, and movies always show that you need a man in your life to be happy. Many females wait for the man to sweep them off their feet and carry them off into the sunset. But, as the quote above says, the most exciting and significant relationship is the one you have with yourself! Love yourself! I know that some days it isn't easy, maybe you wake up with a huge zit the day of a huge event. That's okay! It happens! Here are some tips to help you feel fabulous, and make yourself feel better when you may be in a bit of a rut.

1. Get plenty sleep. Sometimes, you are just tired. Being tired makes your skin look tired, you don't think straight, and you act a bit crazy. Sleep is very important.
2. Eat healthy! You're body is a temple. Treat it that way! Drink lots of water, and eat well. Your body will respond and you will feel more energetic and like you can take on the world.
3. Face masks! Go to a drug store and pick up a face mask. Sometimes, you can even get them in a calming scent. Put your hair up, and throw on a mask. Your skin will thank you, and you will feel more confident.
4. Take time for yourself. Take a long walk, read a book, go for a jog, or whatever makes you feel great. Take time to just relax, and focus on yourself. Sometimes we get so caught up in life that we forget to take care of our self.
5. Smile! Even on your worst days, smile. A smile can turn your whole day around and when you feel happy, and look happy, you will probably have a better day. Having a good day is always a plus!!

Loving yourself is a very important part of life! You are the top priority and sometimes we get so caught up in life that we forget that. Take the time to have a good relationship with yourself, and you won't regret it! Plus, who doesn't want to feel fabulous??

Enjoy!
